- Most of us don’t spend a lot of time considering what watershed we live in. Hydrology and water quality carry implications of community that surpass that of municipal boundaries. Take for instance, the Malden River Subwatershed, which links together six municipalities (Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, and Wakefield). Any rainwater that falls within the Malden River subwatershed contributes to the body of water that makes up the Malden River. So when when rain lands on a parking lot in Stoneham, it then runs into a sewer pipe or culvert and flows past Everett.
